I am proud to now offer  RIGOTTI processed bassoon cane at prices that are not only affordable but guaranteed to be the lowest you will find anywhere.   There is no middleman or subtractor here....all work is done personally by
me
First,
the RIGOTTI tube cane is split. It is then cut to 120mm and pre-gouged on a Reeds'nStuff crank pre-gouger. Then the cane is gouged on the
Rolls Royce
of gougers, the Kunibert Michel.  These machines are almost impossible to find in this country & very expensive - but are amazing in their ability to produce smooth and consistent gouges.  Warped and damaged cane is discarded.
Gouge thickness is approximately  .125-.130mm(+/-3).
Finally, the cane is profiled on a Rieger profiler.
Profile thickness is about 85-90mm at collar.
Tube length is about
30mm.
Next, the cane is sanded and polished using a multi-step process involving various abrasive sponges and papers.  The polishing of the soft side of the cane is critical in minimizing plaque and debris build up inside your reed, as well as sealing off the pores of the cane to prolong reed life. This step is optional so please let me know your preference when you order.
Then, cane is shaped to your
REQUESTED SHAPE
