HongShan Culture Period
-The first civilization of Chinese Culture (3500 - 3000 BC), comprised of a group of Neolithic peoples who lived in the far north-east, in what is modern-day Liaoning province China, created a sophisticated society and erected elaborate ceremonial sites. Excavations of their temples and tombs have revealed carved stone objects in elite tombs. Most of the HongShan collection are Jade and Iron-Meteorite heavy stone, composed of metallic iron-nickel (possessing an extraordinary power to attract magnetically).
During the HongShan Culture Period, the tooling methods were more advanced than most scholars give the culture credit. Many items that are carved and decorated in such a manner that it would be extremely difficult even today to replicate working with the most advanced shop tools and while working under magnification (let alone the absolutely beautiful and creative artistry). Through our extensive collecting experience and expertise with 100+ collectors (HongShan Research and Development Group) around the world dedicated the time to research, HongShan Foundation and the research group are able to identify so far the 130+ different materials in HongShan Culture Period ancient objects by 10 HongShan ancient tooling methods (HongShan Tooling and Carving Grooves).
