Another new shaper has now been added to the ever expanding inventory of NEXUSWOODWIND.
NEW-Klaus Thunemann Flat shaper- set up in the larger Herzberg shaper structure

As you may already know, Klaus Thunemann is the most recorded bassoonist in the world, as well as being former principal bassoon of the Berlin Philharmonic
This custom shape was copied from 5 pieces of Thunemann shaped cane I obtained
directly from RIEGER
.   All 5 pieces were scanned using a Laser spectrometer which can measure perimeters down to .0001".  The measurements  were then sent directly to the most modern CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) robotic machinery for replication.
This shape is unique in that it has a slight "bulge" in the contour around where that middle wire would be...which,
This shape is unique in that it has a slight "bulge" in the contour just below where that middle wire would be...which, as I surmize, gives the reed maker more adjustment options by crimping below middle wire...instead of the more radical adjustments to the first wire. It also gives more tension to the cane in that area when wrapping the turks head, which also helps in maintaining. the proper tension at the tip opening.
Additionally, a new proprietary  hard anodization process will minimize the amount of knife damage common to other flat shapers.  Plus, the inner and outer edges have been slightly beveled to minimize knife damage even more.
