Bassoon Flat Shaper- Sakakeeny/VanHoesen -NEW

New to the ever expanding inventory of NEXUSWOODWIND will now be a line of custom shapers.  Next to be manufactured by NEXUSWOODWIND are replica copies of the original VanHoesen* shape.  Working closely with George Sakakeeny at the Eastman School of Music, we were able to replicate the exact curvature of the original VanHoesen shape, which Professor Sakakeeny uses and recommends.
*(David VanHoesen was for many decades the professor of Bassoon at the  Eastman School of Music, and was also George Sakakeeny's teacher).
Admiring the overall design and thickness of the original Herzberg shapers, Prof. Sakakeeny advised applying the specific VanHoesen profile and specs to the famous but somewhat larger Herzberg structure.
Using the specs form my previously manufactured Herzberg original shaper,  the process then involved using a digital laser scanner to precisely measure 3 pieces of VanHoesen shaped cane.  Then, after averaging those measurements,  those specs were fed to CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) robotic machine, which replicated those specs into the the larger Herzberg structured shaper....erasing the the Herzberg shape specs and replacing them with the VanHoesen shape specs.
Then a new proprietary hard anodization process was applied to the surface to minimize the amount of knife damage common to other flat shapers.
