Description
This
is a Rare Vintage 1972 Oceanography Map of the Antarctic titled “Submarine
& Subglacial Topography” by Bruce C. Heezen. Printed by the American
Geographical Society, the 33” tall x 42” wide map shows bottom topography in
contoured ocean depths of different colors. The map was “Plate 1 / Folio 16
Morphology / Antarctic Map Folio Series”. Heezen was responsible for the
Submarine Topography, and Charles Bentley was responsible for the Subglacial
Topography. There is a key to the ocean depth colors in one upper corner. Major
ocean & land features are identified on the map, and the map was done to a
1:15,000,000 scale. Bruce Heezen was my boss way back then. The Map has some
very light wear here & there along its edges, but is overall in great
condition. If you do not know of Bruce Heezen, he was important enough figure in
the Oceanic world, for the US Navy to name a ship after him!! Look Him Up!! Please see the
