    Description

Up for auction is a made in 60's Germany bassoon--only ONE owner
It was made in Germany in the mid-1960's. They have taken very good care of it and have been the only owner.
Their bassoon teacher played a professional Polisi bassoon (William Polisi was the principal bassoonist of the New York Philharmonic from 1943 to 1958 and a teacher and manufacturer of the Polisi bassoon) and he recommended that the family purchase this one as it was considered a student model of his professional bassoon.
It was restored by the one-and-only Keith Bowman who appraised it at ,000 after the tune-up he performed on it several years ago. It is in very good condition for a bassoon of this vintage and has had virtually no use since Keith repadded it in 2012. It has also been kept at a nearly constant temperature and humidity for the past 35 years. There is minor cosmetic wear near two of the holes played by the left hand which does not affect the instrument’s playability.
They would like it to go to a good home; to be played and enjoyed by someone who will truly appreciate its gorgeous red maple color and the uniquely warm, rich sound quality.
It comes with two bocals, a seat strap, a variety of swabs and reeds, an article about Mr. Bowman, and a first-rate little fingering chart booklet.  In addition, there is a set of reed-making tools—perfect for those interested in learning how to make their own reeds!
