    This token is a backdated issue believed to have been struck in the late 19th century. It is made of brass with a thin plating of gold. This tiny piece is smaller than a dime and weighs about .22 grams.
    This token is catalogued by Mike Locke as an Octagonal 1853 California Gold 1/4. It has an Indian #1 obverse with a Small Head and 16 stars. Token sports a Wreath #1 reverse. This variety is not solid gold but what a high quality beauty it is!
    This uncommon piece is not denominated and is not legal tender; just an unusual brass token.
